 INTRODUCTION

 

        The Puducherry Police Motor Transport Unit is housed in the second floor of the DIG Quadrangle, Gorimedu, 6 KM away from the Police Headquarters, Puducherry.

 

       Amudhasurabi petrol bunk supplies fuel to the department vehicles for which bi-monthly permanent advance sanctioned from Govt.  We are getting additional vehicles from other dept. of Puducherry Government during emergencies like Election, Bundh, Festival and VVIP/VIP visits to Puducherry.

       

Mini Workshop:

 

               Mini Workshop is also functioning at the PAP Police Complex, Gorimedu. There are 1 HC (Mechanic), 1 PC (Helper) and 1 PC (Electrician) attending urgent minor repairs of the Police vehicles.  The major repairs and the replacement of spares etc. of the Police vehicle are being carried out through Private workshops by adopting usual procedures.

             

Vehicles:

         The Police Department has total 237 light/medium/heavy vehicles and 415 two wheelers.  2 nos. of Bolero/Sumo vehicles are allotted to Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry for Pilot and Escort duties respectively.  2 nos. of Innova vehicles are allotted to Hon’ble Chief Minister’s escort and pilot duty.  Four Cranes are allotted to Traffic PS, Puducherry, for the purpose of removing breakdown vehicle and emergency cases. 10 Tata Sumo Ambulance / Patrolling vehicles (8 Puducherry & 2 Karaikal) are allotted to Police Control Room, Puducherry and 3 Medium Ambulances allotted to Police control room, Traffic PS, Puducherry and Villianur.  2 Bullet Proof cars and 3 Bolero vehicles are attached to SIGMA (Security) for the purpose of VVIP/Z+ categories during the visit to Puducherry. There are 305 Motor cycles allotted to various Police Stations and Units in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions. 

ACTIVITIES OF M.T UNIT

  1. Registration of new vehicles

  2. Obtaining Permanent Advance sanction from Government for POL to vehicles.

  3. Maintenance of R.C books of all vehicles and driving Licenses of M.T. Unit drivers.

  4. Processing of POL bills received from Amudhasurabi co-operative petrol bunk.

  5. Processing of contingent bills.

  6. Issue of work order, after inspection of vehicle for repair works.

  7. Obtaining Non Objection Certificate from the Govt. Automobile Workshop, Puducherry for the repair of vehicles. 

  8. Obtaining Expenditure sanction from the Government for the repair of vehicles through Private workshops.

  9. Conducting monthly inspection of Police vehicles.

  10. Attending and follow-up of MACTOP cases involving Police vehicles / drivers. 

  11. Mobilization of M.T Pool vehicles.

  12. Mobilization of vehicles for VIP/VVIP carcade.

  13. Mobilization of vehicles for other important occasions.

  14. Process and follow-up for condemnation of vehicles.
