INTRODUCTION  

 

      Police Photography unit started functioning from 1965. This police photography is used in all cases of crime requiring photographic court evidence. This unit would be very useful in providing scientific aids and finger print bureau to the investigating officer on the scene of crime. The Police Photography Unit is under the control of SP CID. Presently functioning in the 2nd Floor, CID Complex, Orleanpet.

 

     Staff of the photography section are deployed round the clock as per schedule prepared by photography in charge.

 

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES  

  1.  Photography of Scene of Crime.

  2.  Photography of 174 Cr.P.C cases  and  Accident cases.

  3.  Photography of accused person and KDs/DCs.

  4. Sending of  Accused photos to NCRB/DCRB for color portrait building.

  5.  Finger print photography.

  6.  Photography of all Police functions.

  7.  Photography of Questioned Document  and Thumb impression print at  Hon’ble court.

  8.  Photography of stolen or seized property.

  9.  Photography of unknown dead bodies and publishing of deceased photos in news papers through concerned Police Station.

  10.  Photograph of Foot print.

  11.  Using   Photoshop software to modify the  digital photos.

  12. Taking photos and video coverage on the security arrangements during VVIP visits.

  13. Videography and Photography, during VVIP and VIP visits.

  14. Video Coverage  of Police function, Procession, Meetings, Dharna, Agitation  and other important scenes of crime etc.,

  15. Video coverage of Post Mortem Examination.

  16. Taking classes in Police Training School regarding  Photography.

  17. Orientation training of photography techniques, to the Cadet SI’s, Station Writers and other police personnel.

  18. Appearing Court on Summons to depose evidence.

MODERNIZATION  

 

          Since the police photo section used a digital still camera and digital movie camera in the coverage load in the Police photo section computer. The important processions, meeting, road rock, and all PS accused, converted CD and given CD to concern Police Station.
