TOPOGRAPHY
Thirunallar Police Station is housed in a Government building
which was inaugurated in 1968. The Police Station building
extends to an area o about 5000 square feet with one officer
quarters and three residential quarters for men. It is situated
on the Karaikal, Peralam Main road. 8 Km South from Nedungadu PS
5 Km North-West from Neravy PS, 8 Km East from Ambagarathur OP
and 5 Km West from Karaikal Town Police Station
THIRUNALLAR
Thirunallar is a Hindu religious center and is well known
tourist spot. The city gained its popularity from the famous
temple of Sri. Dharbarnesswarar with the holy abode of Lord
Saneswaran (Saturn). This holy place was previously known by
some other names also like Dharbaranyam, Nagavitangapuram,
Naleswaram, etc, according to the to the temple lore. The
present Tamil Name Nallaru, means in the middle of the rivers
‘Nal’ stands for middle in some other Tamil Words. Two rivers (‘Aru’
in Tamil) flow here, one on the northern side (Arasalar). As
this place is situated in the Middle of (Nal) the two rivers it
got the name ‘Thirunallar’ as ‘Thiru’ as a honorary word
signifying holiness.
On an average nearly 5000, devotees from all over India visit
this temple, and on Saturdays much 50,000 people boards down at
Thirunallar to worship Lord Saneeswaran. Lord Saneeswaran. Lord
Saneswaran. Lord Saneswaran has astrological significance and
once in every 2 ˝ years this Lord is said to transit from one
house to another on the astrological circles. During those days
huge crowed of devotees throng at this holy city to take a holy
city to take a holy dip a the famous ‘Nalatank’ here and to
worship the Lord at the exact time of its transit. One more
transit, which takes place once in 7 ˝ years, has a greater
significance, which witnesses nearly 5 laksh people from
all over the world on the day of transit. VVIPs/VIPs from all
over the country frequent this hold city. Notable among
them are High court and Supreme Court Judge, MLAs / MPs
and Ministers of State and Central Government, Senior bureaucrats of the central and State Government,
industrialists, famous and holy saints
