TOPOGRAPHY

The Grand Bazaar Police Station is located in the Heart of the Pondicherry Town, ie. On the Northern side of J.N. Street, Pondicherry, Puducherry. The building approximately measured about 1800 Sqft. in which the office the Inspector of Police, Grand Bazaar Circle, is also functioning.

This is an old Police Station, functioning since French regime in Pondicherry. It is bordered by Muthialpet Police Station in the North, Odiansalai Police Station in the South, Lawspet Police Station in the North-West, Orleanpet Police Station in the South-West, D’ Nagar Police Station in the west and Bay of Bengal in the East.

It comprises of very important buildings like Raj Nivas, Chief Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, French consulate, Police HQ. etc. including all Head Offices of Nationalized Banks and Other Govt. Institutions.

IMPORTANT FAIRS AND FESTIVALS

Masimagam festival Attracts more crowd in the city because of the arrival of famous Mailam, Gingee and Deevanur, deities from Tamil Nadu in the month of March During three days the entire city will be enjoying with processions, Music and Poojas.
Vinayagar Chathurthi another important festival and in which hundreds of Ganesh deities will be taken as a procession and the deities will be merged in the sea water. Now a day communal forces are taking active roll in this procession and more care to be taken while making law and order & security arrangements.
Christmas and New Year are the important functions for General public & Christians.
Every Sunday there is a traditional Sunday Bazaar is conducted along M.G. Road in which large number of people used to gather for shopping.
Anniversary day of Mother is being worshiped at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, on 21^st February every year which collects many visitors from all parts of India.
Vaigunda Egadesi Pooja is being observed every year at Perumal Koil, where hundreds of worshipers attend
Mahasivarathri at Eswaran Koil is being observed every year, where more worshippers visit at that time.
