General
The
Puducherry Police Band Unit has a sanctioned strength of 1 SI, 4 HCs and 15
PCs. The SI Band should be a
trained Band Master. The Band
Unit housed at PAP Complex, Gorimedu and has a separate building for its
functioning.
Functions
There shall be 4 roll calls daily for the Puducherry Police Band at 0830, 1130, 1630 and 1830 hours. Following the 0830 hours roll call the members of the band will have music practice in the Band building. After the 1630 hours roll call, the band shall again have music practice until the final roll call at 1830 hours. The SI Band shall submit daily the roll call report to the CMT through Inspector ‘A’ coy under whose administrative control the band functions.
The band shall attend all ceremonial parades of the Puducherry Police, the DGP parade and any other special parade for which it is called.
The
band shall attend all state functions free of cost and any other function
under the specific order of the DGP.
Duties of the SI
i)
He shall ensure proper discipline of the men of the Band unit.
ii)
He shall ensure that they are in proper turn-out for the
departmental, State and private functions.
iii)
He shall ensure that all the members of the band have music
practice regularly.
iv)
He shall ensure that the Buglers attached to the various Coys
practice playing of Buglers regularly.
v)
He shall ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the
premises of the Band unit.
vi)
He shall personally supervise proper maintenance of all
records as per the standing order.
vii)
He shall personally attend all the roll calls and brief his
staff about all recent circulars and orders of senior officials.
Band Committee A Committee for the Police Band shall consist of the following:
Private functions
As envisaged, the Police Band may also be engaged for private functions on payment of fees. The booking of the private functions shall be done through the Secretary, Puducherry Police Band. The Band will be booked for private functions for a minimum period of two hours on payment of prescribed fee.
The
following concessions will be available to police personnel including
Ministerial staff in the Police department:-
a) 10% of the above rates for both gazetted and non-gazetted officials. The President of the Band Committee may however, relax these
rules of and when deemed fit.
b)
The Band will be provided free
of charge for the funeral ceremony of the serving
or retired members of the police force.
A list of all the retired police personnel with their full addresses and names of dependents shall be maintained by the SP/Hqrs, to ensure that the band reaches the correct place for playing.
The
following points have to be adhered to while attending private functions:-
(a)
They must always be in good working uniform.
(b)
The engagements must be unobjectionable morally, legally and
politically.
(c)
Any damage done to government property shall be made good by
the person responsible.
(d)
No instruments other than those provided for the band shall be
played.
(e)
The members will not walk along with the procession.
(f)
They will be properly seated while performing.
The party shall make seating arrangements for the band.
(g)
Advance payment for the function will be deposited by the
party.
All private engagements are liable to cancellation of the band is required for government duty, in which case the entire advance of the hire charges shall be refunded to the party concerned.
